About Chinese
The Chinese language is rich and has many spoken forms. The two main strands are Mandarin, which is the official language of mainland Hong Kong or Malaysia.
However, with translations you will only deal with written Chinese. Written Chinese however only has two different styles, each using different Chinese characters. These are termed "traditional" (as used in Hong Kong) and "simplified" (as used in mainland China).
Basically the difference is in the writing, i.e. in "simplified" Chinese the characters are easier to write as they use fewer strokes and are easier to write.
